An unexpected outing

What a lovely unexpected outing I had with Sandi the other day....

Just one of those outings without a plan.
We went to spotlight at Springfield Orion and to our surprise there is a new Target shop there with a cafe ........ and they do High Tea for 2 so naturally we had to give it a try.

We were so happy with it too......
we will have to take Norreen and Teresa for a visit.

Its not a big flash high tea as you can see but very enjoyable.
The scones were fantastic .....

Once again I don't have any photos of our Tuesday get together but maybe it's just as well,

I was making more Miss Matty's hexie blocks.....

Looks good in this photo but earlier in the day it didn't look so good at all.

I put the centre hexie on wrong side up and what a pain it was to unpick.....
tiny little stitches...... grrrrrrr
So  at the end of the day I had make 1 hexie,,,,,, how's that for a days work ?

Here's another that I did on monday....

I'm really enjoying this project.....
I think I might put a countdown thingee on my side bar ....
just for fun of course, I need 323 hexies some plain ....

Till next time.....

Love this bag......

I really love this Clamshell Organiser Sewing Bag by Sue Daley.

I have used the Raspberry Parlour fabric.... I'm so pleased that it turned out so well.
Bit fiddly but certainly worth the effort.

Front

Back

I have made a bit more progress on my Miss Matty's Parlour quilt but it will be very slow going.

Corinne has bought herself a car and as you can see it's a very bright happy yellow.
She is very excited and has a huge big smile on her face.

Congratulations Corinne.
So goodbye red Lancer and hello Mazda 6

Mixed bag

Tuesday stitching was fun as usual but no photos this time.....

Nor gave me these 2 beaut Birthday Teapot blocks.....

Love them Nor.... thanks heaps.

I have been working on these clam shells for my little sewing bag.

Coming together nicely......

Ta Dahhhhh the front is finished..... now onto the back.
Fiddly little devil but worth it I think.....

Love the Raspberry Parlour fabric.

I was a bit naughty and bought this beaut iron......
I dropped my old one some months ago and it's never been the same since....
buzzing when it shouldn't and dripping water everywhere.

We also went to the movies  to see The Dressmaker.....
wasn't sure is Gavan would like it but he did enjoy it, perhaps not as much as I did.

Loved it.

Well back to more clam shells....

Tired but still up for an outing with the girls....

On Friday the 6th saw us heading out again......

We were all sooooo tired from our Tassie trip but that didn't hold us back from another outing
So "Christmas in the Country" at Gatton was calling so off we went
You probably know us well so it won't be a surprise that the first thing was.....

Yep... coffee and cake

We were really on a mission to meet our "blog stalker" Desley and to see her stand of wonderful Annie Smith dolls.
So many terrific dolls.... well done Desley

We had a window of a few hours to meet Desley ......
we looked and looked but couldn't find her anywhere so we took photos to prove we had showed up.

Teresa and me at Desley's stand.

Sandi.... me .... Nor

So we all made a few purchases but sadly I can't show what I bought just yet.

There was a lovely park just outside of the venue so naturally we had a few more photo moments.

Shopping tends to make one very hungry so we needed to find a cafe.....
and we found the perfect place for us on our way home.

What a great name for a cafe.

Yum it was good too.

Thanks girls for another great outing.

I have been busy since I returned from Tasmania....
more Miss Matty's Parlour hexies.

Put the binding on my quilt

Then realised...... how could I possibly sew the binding down without a.....

Goody Goody Binding Kit of course .....
so off I went to the sewing room and here it is.
You will find a great tutorial here

Ahhhh now I can begin....

Ta Daaaaa....finished

Wonderful quilting done by Sarah

I think that will be enough for today.

Final tassie retreat posts

Goodbye photo....
A couple of the girls had left early so they missed the photo.

We all went to Anvers chocolate factory for one last coffee.
Yes we did taste and bought.....yum

Naturally we had to have goodbye hugs again..... as you do....

After saying our goodbyes (again) to all the wonderful girls from the retreat we decided to do the tourist thing and enjoy some of the great places Launceston has to offer.

So off we went for  a visit to the Launceston City Park....
Beautiful flower gardens

This tired girl resting on the light pole

We all thought this fellow was using his mobile phone so I joined him..... lol...
Ronald Campbell Gunn....Botanist....
he actually had plants in his hand

Then over to enjoy a bit of monkey business.....
Japanese Macaque

They were so entertaining that we stayed there for quite a while.

We also went to this very interesting place but you can't take any photos there...
we did have lunch and it just about killed us not to be able to take photos...
a really fantastic place....

We did get these photos in the gardens though.
Can you see the hedge car on the left ?

I might make a quilt label for my birthday teapot quilt with this photo...
apt don't you think ?

Beautiful scenery even on a dull day.

We also visited the Cataract Gorge and as you can imagine had lost of fun there too.
It was a bit chilly that day but still very beautiful.

2 cold kids

A swim maybe...... nup...

We walked across the Gorge and up to a cafe surrounded by beautiful gardens and lovely Lyre Birds.
Of course we never miss an opportunity to have coffee.... for me it was hot chocolate
with Anvers chocolate.

A friendly visitor

These 2 were so cute having a kiss and cuddle in the garden.

Sadly that was the end of our fantastic time away in Tasmania.
A huge Thank You to Cathy for organising this retreat
and to all the wonderful "Friends in Stitching"girls for making our stay so enjoyable ..... hopefully we will all meet again in the future.
